Below you will find information on Hockey Canada Registration, Respect in Sport as well as other helpful tips and information we hope will help you feel prepared for your first season as a minor hockey participant.

Quick info:

• The WHMHA regular season runs from October to March with a break at Christmas.
• Practices/game times run twice a week out of Newport GFL Rink and the West Hants Sports Complex.
• Jerseys will be provided the first week of practice. Socks are not provided. A full guide to gear and other great information can be found here:

• WHMHA uses GrayJay for registration and communications. Once registration is closed and the  ice schedule is finalized, you will be able to see the schedule, send messages and set your players availability all in the GrayJay app. Create a grayjaypay account here:

*The app can be downloaded through the app store on both android and apple devices.

Hockey Canada Registration & Respect In Sport (RIS):

• Minor Hockey in Nova Scotia is governed by Hockey Canada.
• The Respect In Sport course is mandatory for all minor hockey parents/guardians.
• Completion of this course will generate a Hockey ID # required for further registration within West Hants Minor Hockey (Or any Hockey Canada sanctioned association). There is a one-time fee for this course.

• Visual guide through RIS Registration. Once completed, you will find your child’s HC ID# under Profile, then Child Management tab.

• Please take note of this number as it will not change throughout the duration of your child’s time in any minor hockey program across the country.
• If you have taken this course before for an older child, you can skip this step and go directly to the new player creation registration here: https://page.spordle.com/west-hants/participant/1ef43cab-2655-6a3e-a1c2-06f606e85d2d
• Please link your new child’s HCR profile to your certification number by following the same link, selecting new to this program and then existing user.

New Account Creation in Hockey Canada

• Create a Hockey Canada (HCR 3.0) account here: https://hcr3.hockeycanada.ca/
• Once the RIS Parent course is completed you can search for your child in HCR after logging in and then link their profile to your account.

• Once you have completed the RIS for parents and have your child’s ID#, you may continue on to our 2024/2025 season registration link found on our website and Facebook: West Hants Minor Hockey Association | GrayJay Pay
